DSV Partners with theDOCK to Boost Transport & Logistics Technology Innovation

In yet another step to boost technology innovation in the start-up nation, DSV, a global supplier of transport and logistics services, partners with the Israeli maritime focused innovation hub – theDOCK – to engage in open innovation.

Being the first and only maritime focused innovation hub in Israel, theDOCK is constantly on the lookout for local startups developing cutting edge technologies to benefit the Maritime, Ports & Logistics sectors. theDOCK is an accelerator and a micro-fund providing seed investment and go to market for early stage startups and scaleups. Its vision is to leverage Israel’s technology and innovation assets and make it the startups nation for the maritime sector as well.

From its establishment in early 2017 till today, theDOCK has screened more than a hundred startups to identify relevant technologies that will attend to the challenges of its corporate partners. DSV now joins Wartsila, Lloyd’s Register and Maersk who partnered theDOCK to strengthen their technology edge by gaining access to the simulative and creative innovation ecosystem in Israel. theDOCK serves as a neutral innovation hub that partners with global maritime organizations covering all sub sectors such as shipping, logistics, classification, vessel smart technology and more. theDOCK aims to contribute to both sides - startups and global leaders alike, and the agreement with DSV is an important step in that direction.

“Having DSV as a partner will add freight forwarding and logistics to our areas of focus,” says Nir Gartzman, Founder & COO of theDOCK. “While we focus on Ports, Maritime & Logistics, we ran across needs and challenges in the Freight Forwarding business. Providers seek innovative technologies, while creative entrepreneurs come up with great ideas using technologies such as IoT, Blockchain, Big Data and more.  DSV and its vast global reach will bring tremendous value to our local startups, providing deep knowledge and experience in their area, and serving as test debs and beta site. We are delighted to partner with DSV to seek relevant innovation, and are certain of the true win-win for us, DSV as well as the sector as a whole.”

The future belongs to the innovators, the first-movers with a great idea and the potential to conquer the world. DSV wants to be by their side as transport and logistics partner – helping them develop by ensuring a high-performing and scalable supply chain from the get-go.

“Many times, start-up companies fail, because the supply chain and distribution of their great new products is not given proper attention. DSV will be the first transport and logistics company to offer a tailored start-up logistics service. The idea is to help them grow and, as they grow, become their logistics partner of choice,” says Ofir Bronhaim, Innovation Manager, DSV Israel.

“Our collaboration with theDOCK supports DSV's Open Innovation strategy, used also to leverage the expansion of the services portfolio for our clients.”

To kick off this partnership, DSV will sponsor theDOCK’s Demo Day which showcases its first wave of startups on October 31st. This invite-only event will provide select investors and corporates an exclusive chance to meet with theDOCK’s PORTfolio startups, watch their pitch and discuss business and investment opportunities with each team.
