Shaul Chorev is a retired Rear Admiral from the Israeli Navy and a Professor in the International Relation division in the School of Political Science the University of Haifa. In the University of Haifa Corev is also the director of Haifa Maritime Center for Policy & Strategy researches. Chorev is a lecturer on Maritime Strategy and Israel Defense Policy, International Security and Arms Control Technology Transfer and Innovation Systems
in the Defense Laboratories.
Chorev is the former Head of the Israel Atomic Energy Commission (2007 – 2015). He has held central positions in the Israeli defense establishment including Assistant to the Minister of Defense for Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense; Deputy Chief of Naval Operations; Commanding Officer of the Haifa Naval Base
and Commanding Officer of an Israeli Naval Flotilla (missile boats & submarines).
In 1989 – 1992 Chorev was the project manager of the Dolphin Submarines Project in the German Shipyards (HDW & TNSW). Chorev holds a BA in Economics and Political Sciences from Bar Ilan University (1985), MSc. from the United States Naval Postgraduate School (1989) and Ph.D. from Bar Ilan University in Science Technology and Society (2005).
